Vibrational healing with gong baths

A Gong Bath is a type of sound healing that uses the vibrations of a gong to induce relaxation and promote healing. The gong is a large, metal disc that is struck with a mallet to produce a wide range of sounds, often accompanied by the use of crystal gongs and singing bowls. These sounds can be used to create a calming and meditative atmosphere.

““The Gong has the power of Creativity. Absolutely it is a therapy. And it can expand the mind beyond its horizon”

- Yogi Bhajan

Gong Baths are said to provide a number of benefits, including:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety

  • Improved sleep

  • Increased relaxation

  • Enhanced creativity

  • Pain relief

  • Improved mood

  • Increased energy

Brainwaves can be measured and each frequency represents a specific level of brain activity and a different state of consciousness. The sound and vibrations of the gongs move us from our awake and alert (Beta) state to a more relaxed and calm (Alpha) state, then on to a restful and creative (Theta) state and finally to a deeply relaxing, healing and meditative (Delta) state. This can cause the brain, heart and respiratory rates to slow down and increase the release of melatonin, endorphin and dopamine chemicals that are linked to feelings of expanded mental clarity and promote relaxation and healing. The sound of the gong can also help to clear away negative thoughts and emotions, creating a space for peace and tranquility.

During a Gong Bath, you will typically lie down on a yoga mat in a comfortable position. The facilitator will then play the gong and you may feel the vibrations of the gong throughout your body. You may also experience a variety of other sensations, such as tingling, warmth, or feelings of peace and relaxation.
